Climate Change Sky Story above New York City Skyline

A thousand Nova drones lifted above the East River, as Projecting Change launched a climate-focused Sky Story timed to the United Nations General Assembly, the Climate Ambition Summit, and the SDG Summit. The show opened Climate Week with a clear call for collective action.

The series of synchronized Sky Stories was designed to inspire, educate, unify, and activate a local and global collective around the climate crisis and other important environmental campaigns. Viewers across Manhattan and Queens watched QR codes appear in the sky to link them to each campaign and a contest that invited ideas for a sustainable future.

Academy Award winner Louie Psihoyos said the team “programmed a thousand drones to dance over the New York City skyline to form magical creatures that delivered messages on how to save the planet.”

"The drones will perform a series of synchronized shows to inspire, educate, unify, and activate the local and global collective around the climate crisis and other important environmental campaigns."

"In addition to the amazing blend of colors, technology, light and imagination, drone shows tell their own stories with inspirational scores that blends the visual with the audio. They can accent a feeling of excitement or patriotism during a sporting event or national holiday celebration."

“Art has the power to shift cultures. We urgently need to drive change at scale—to redesign our human systems to be in alignment with nature, and respect all life,” said Projecting Change CEO Christopher Lejeune. “Our children’s survival and all future generations of life on Earth depend on it.”
